Update within Joomla

Guest Hello,

yesterday i found our fine tool and installed it onto my server. This was Version 4.8
Today i looked and saw 4.9 and now i want to update to this new version.

I am using joomal 1.5 and now my question is how to update it correctly.

Because i have edited the config-file and other files to make a german version for my side, an update will make another translation necessary for me. Or can i just make a backup of the config-file and then update? What about the database-entries for the servers when i make an update?

Wouldn't it be better to make language-files or store the data for background-colors etc into the database instead of an config-file?

Greetings,
Michael

I put the file changes in the news comments, so you only have to upload the changed files.

Config changes dont happen often, so you can upload everything but the config.

Even when the config changes, you can paste new lines into your old config, or the otherway round.
